What is it

What are trackable QR codes, and why use them?

Trackable QR codes send every scan through a short redirect link before the visitor reaches your page. That one extra step lets you record each scan and change the destination later, so the code you printed never has to change.

Trackable QR Codes lets you create as many codes as you need. Sign in to track up to three QR codes for free, then review scan totals and available breakdowns in your dashboard.

Who it is for

Made for anyone who prints a link and needs to know what happens next.

From a single café menu to a nationwide print run, a tracked code gives offline touchpoints the measurement that online ads have always had.

01

Restaurants and cafés

Put one code on every table, swap the seasonal menu whenever you like, and learn which hours bring the most scans.

02

Marketers and agencies

Give each flyer, poster, or billboard its own code and compare placements side by side to prove what offline spend delivers.

03

Retail and packaging brands

Print a code on boxes and labels, then point it at manuals, reviews, or reorder pages and update it as products change.

04

Real estate and local services

Yard signs, vans, and business cards finally show which ones get scanned, so you know where your next lead came from.

05

Event organizers

Update schedules and ticket links after the programs are printed, and see which devices and regions your guests scan from.

06

Designers and freelancers

Export a clean SVG for Canva, Figma, or a print file, then update the destination later when a client changes the page.

How it helps

Trackable QR codes keep printed campaigns flexible.

A printed code is usually final. With trackable QR codes the redirect stays editable, and the scan trail tells you what to change next.

The same printed QR code connects to an updated website destination.
Print once. Stay flexible.

Change the destination without reprinting

Update a menu, listing, product page, review link, or campaign while the code on your poster, package, or sign stays exactly the same.

Understand scan activity

After signing in, track up to three QR codes with totals and estimated unique visitors, plus breakdowns for time, country, continent, region, device, OS, browser, and referral source.

Start tracking your scans

Create without a scheduled expiry

Create as many QR codes as you need. Codes remain available until you delete or disable them, subject to safety and abuse controls.

Built-in scan checks

Choose colors, patterns, and a logo, then run automated checks before downloading. Test the final printed code on your target devices too.

Privacy-minded analytics

Analytics minimize personal data. We do not store raw IP addresses, full user-agent strings, city, latitude, or longitude. A code-scoped salted hash helps estimate unique visitors.

Export when you need more

Download a CSV of your scan data and take a closer look in the spreadsheet or BI tool your team already uses.

Example scan reach

A printed code becomes useful after it leaves your desk. Each redirect becomes a readable signal, grouped by country, time, device, operating system, and referral source.

FAQ

Trackable QR codes, answered.

A short guide to creating QR codes, tracking up to three codes for free after sign-in, editing destinations, and reading scan data.

What are trackable QR codes?

Trackable QR codes route each scan through a short redirect link, so every visit is counted and the destination can be edited later without changing the printed code.

Is there a free QR code tracker?

Yes. You can create as many QR codes as you need. After signing in, the free option lets you track up to three QR codes and view their scan data. Pro and Premium provide more tracking slots; see Pricing for availability.

Do trackable QR codes expire?

They do not have a scheduled expiry date. A code can still be deleted or disabled by its owner, or blocked for safety or abuse.

How do I create a QR code that stays active?

Create a trackable QR code and keep its destination current. It has no scheduled expiry, but it is not permanent: you can delete or disable it, and unsafe destinations may be blocked.

Can I change the destination link after I print my code?

Yes. Edit the link anytime. The printed code stays the same, so there is nothing to reprint.

How do I track scans on my QR code?

After signing in, you can track up to three QR codes. Each dashboard shows scan totals, estimated unique visitors, time, country, device, operating system, and CSV export.

Who uses trackable QR codes?

Restaurants, marketers, retailers, real estate agents, event teams, and designers use them to link print to the web and measure which placements get scanned.

Are there scan limits, ads, or watermarks?

You can create QR codes without paying. Free tracking is limited to three QR codes per signed-in account, but scans for those tracked codes are unlimited. Pro and Premium provide additional tracking slots. There are no ads or watermarks.

Can I track a QR code I created in Canva?

You cannot add tracking to a Canva code after export. Recreate it here and drop the SVG into your design.

What scan data do you collect?

We store scan time, country, device, operating system, browser family, language, and limited attribution fields. We do not store raw IP addresses, full user-agent strings, city, latitude, or longitude. Estimated unique visitors use a code-scoped salted hash.
